Described as “Brilliant and fascinating music” by Jamie Cullum, The David Duffy quartet explores ambient electronic jazz with a distinct Scandinavian influence to intricate compositions featuring complex time signatures. They effortlessly blur the boundaries between contemporary classical, jazz, electronica, and post-rock, creating something that BBC Music magazine described as “Thoroughly captivating”

With an international line up of David Duffy on electronics, double bass & electric bass (IRL), Marc Martin on piano (CAT), Emil Nerstrand (SWE) on Sax/Clarinet, and Davy Ryan on drums (IRL). The live show incorporates dynamic bespoke lighting, captivating visuals and poetry, taking the audience on a journey into the realms of altered states, birth, and the search for meaning. More than a standard concert, David takes years of theatre training into the live show to create something truly immersive

The debut album “Where the branches begin” released on Jazzville records, has received much critical acclaim with playlisting on RTE radio 1, BBC, and Jazz fm

As a composer, David Duffy has headlined prestigious national and international festivals, including the Cork Film Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, Cork Summer Festival, HOP Festival, Sonar, and Dublin Fringe.

“Where the Branches Begin” is funded by the arts council of Ireland, and Davids instrument is funded by Music Network
